Basin and Pedestal

There are two main classes of basin and pedestal, those with a full pedestal and those with a half-pedestal. A full pedestal goes the full length from the floor to the underside of the basin giving the impression that the basin sits atop the pedestal, although generally the basin will be supported by being bolted to the wall using Fischer bolts or similar. A half pedestal on the other hand does not go right down to the floor but instead hugs the wall, so the whole unit, basin and pedestal is effectively wall mounted. In both cases the purpose of the pedestal is to hide the pipework associated with any taps (the water feeds) or with the basin waste kit. For half pedestals the water feeds must come from the wall wheras for full pedestals the water feeds usually come from the floor and are hidden within the body of the pedestal.
